Cassandra Aho, CPM, CACassandra is a blissfully happy military spouse and mother of 4 incredible children. She’s originally from Michigan and has been using her voice to advocate for victims and survivors of intimate partner violence all over the country.
After witnessing several hospital births that seemed to dismantle the birthing person, Cassandra felt the need to do more and began her Midwifery education from Midwives College of Utah, as well as her Victim Advocacy Credential through the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP). She devoted the entirety of her education to learning about the complexities of IPV during pregnancy. She was awarded the Harris-Braun Outstanding Poster Award for Research at MANACAM 2017 for research on STI’s and Sharing Sexual Responsibility. "I believe in the transformative powers of midwifery care and birth. I have seen birthing people begin the process scared and insecure and come out warriors. Through informed decision making and autonomy, I believe that the midwifery model of care with a trusted midwife heals invisible wounds, and empowers birthing people to see themselves as we see them, a powerhouse that creates and sustains life!" Midnight Midwifery is not taking home birth clients at this time as the sole dedication and focus is helping to facilitate safe IPV practices for other healthcare providers. |
What are folks saying about Midnight Midwifery?
"Cassandra is the epitome of compassion, integrity and kindness. She had found her calling in life and serves her clients without discrimination or bias. I have been so honored to work with such a strong, capable and intelligent individual. Her knowledge, ability to gather resources, and rally communication makes her an amazing midwife and guide/support for victims of domestic violence as well as providers wanting to support their own clients.
I do not hesitate to reach out to Cassandra when I need guidance in handling delicate situations or referrals for my clients to get the gentle, accurate and loving direction to protect themselves and their families. She knows exactly what to say, do, and who to talk to get results.
The work she does is so important. She is saving the world one family at a time and I am so lucky that I have her on my team!" -Rachael Cook, LM CPM
"I had the privilege to know and work with Cassandra for many years. She has been a revolutionary force addressing IPV as a critical component in midwifery care. She has a long-standing dedication to holistic humanity within this public health crisis. This is demonstrated through a compassionate focus on the intergenerational empowerment that can occur through the childbearing process, and the role a medical-provider/midwife can bring to that exchange. Cassandra's work in this field is an exponential asset both for pregnant persons, through midwifery services, as well as providers, through your training programs and presentations. Thank you, Cassandra, for your willingness to address IPV and childbearing health. You are an inspiration!" - Audra Post, Midwife
"I seriously can't imagine my birth and postpartum experience without Cassandra. knowledgeable, yes, skilled, absolutely. But her fire. that's what sets her above and beyond. I knew she would have literally every part of my experience handled. We could talk about the baby stuff, the emotions, the body. No stone is unturned. I simultaneously felt like I gained a phenomenal birth sage, and a best friend. She's like a million thumbs up." - Lauren D.

Our journey with Cassandra has been long and wonderful. My husband and I lost our first babies (twins) to trisomy 18 and Cassandra was incredibly supportive with giving him lay-person information and myself medical research about the diagnosis. When we became pregnant with our little girl, Cassandra was so happy for us that she cried. Only really special people do that.
As a survivor of intimate partner abuse in a previous marriage, I had more tension about the process of pregnancy and childbirth than I realized I would. Cassandra has been supportive, kind, and respectful throughout my pregnancy, always asking for consent to touch me, even for blood pressure checks. Her level of care is unparalleled.
On top of all of her professional attributes, she is funny and goofy and open, which are priceless qualities. I am thankful to know her and grateful every day for the role she has played in my journey. -Naomi M.
